Well, 3 stars is probably generous, but this was a pretty average place. There was good and bad, but l left not over full but satisfied. I arrived after 8pm and there were only a few tables occupied. After some in decision the hostess tried to seat me at a table that had not been completely cleared. Her and the waitress quickly cleaned it up. The waitress said she would be right back. She appeared to be one of two wait staff there. The manager apologized for wait and took my drink order. I was checked on by waitress shortly and she took my order. This would be the last I saw of her for a while. After taking 15-20 minutes to put meat on a bun and lettuce in a bowl, the manger brought out my food. There was a few tables of food prepped and the waitress was not to be found. The food was good. Part of what is holding up this barely 3 star review. This is not great BBQ by any means, so if you are expecting KC or Memphis or Texas BBQ this is not going to satisfy. But I knew what I was getting with this chain. The pork was moist, flavorful and good on the toasted bun. Back to the service. After having my food for awhile, the manager refilled my drink. A little later I was checked on by waitress. She was nice but seemed overwhelmed. If you catch this place with better service, I assume you will leave happy.

Very average. We were there for dinner about 8:00 pm on a Tuesday. I ordered the chicken dinner with a baked potato and corn ($11.99). It came with 2 pieces of garlic bread, which tasted like buttered toasted french bread that was cold. The chicken breast/wing was small and I didn't eat the fat, so it was flavorless. The 5ish bar-b-que sauces on the tables were all a sweet flavor. Even the one labeled "spicy" was not spicy at all but was mildly sweet. The corn was listed as "cut corn" on the menu, but I told the waitress that I didn't care for the corn, she told me "yes, well, it is from a can." One plus was that the waitress offered to bring me any other side to replace the corn, which I didn't take, but it was nice of her to offer that. The baked potato was good and hot - basically a plain baked potato with butter & sour cream. My boyfriend had the ribs and turkey dinner ($14.99). The turkey was great! The ribs, he said, were tough, sweet and not cooked long enough. He said they were not tender at all. I am trying to add pics of our plates, as served, the uploads are not wanting to go as of yet. They have a small list of beer & wine to offer. The service was friendly and restaurant was clean. I would not return to this restaurant but if I had too, I'd just order the turkey sandwich with fries. Just for the turkey meat and not the overcooked canned veggie sides.

Amazing service! Everyone was very friendly and though it was packed, we only waited 14 minutes on Saturday night. The sweet tea was perfect and the kept the refills coming. The pork and the beef were crazy moist and tender with great flavor. The potato salad was great and the green beans above average. Will definitely be back often! Highly recommend!

My favorite BBQ in my home town! I love the different sauces! I can't want to come to visit again, I will definitely be eating here. Great service, great environment.

Service was good. Food wasn't so good, ribs were dried out and burnt, like they had been sitting for weeks, baked potato was high point of the meal. Was close to Hotel. Ice tea was not fresh

I had the ribs. They were very flavorful with a good smoke flavor and tender. A sauce was not needed. There were several sauces to choose from . All were good, some were sweeter than others. French fries were good. The green beans were so so. I would recommend this restaurant.

Love Bandanas! So glad we are getting one in Mount Vernon. (This location was formerly a Pasta House)

Loooved it!!! Great food.. Friendly service. Darryl, the General manager, made sure we got a baked potato as soon as they were ready. Only complaint is the iceberg lettuce & canned green beans. Try a spring mix or collard greens.

I had the ribs and they were great. Really didn't need sauce they were so flavorful, but I did enjoy the selection of sauces. I will definitely eat here again when I am in the area.

We were there later (8:30) on Saturday and had the BarBQue Platter for 2. Pros: The service was prompt and attentive and the food was good. Cons: We hadn't finished eating when the server asked if we wanted dessert or anything else, and when we said no she left the check. That might be standard practice but we felt rushed. Also, she kept calling us "guys." Yes, my husband is a guy but I'm not, and we're both nearly old enough to be her grandparents. Being called "Guys" might not bother everyone but it got a little tiresome. We would go back if we're in the neighborhood again.

For the first stop on our road trip for dinner, this was a nice local place to eat, right across for our hotel. My mother ordered the pulled pork, and I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich. Good Flavor, Good Moisture. The waiter Austin was very informative and helpful with recommending sauces for our sammies. The slaw had nice texture and nice flavor that came with the chicken. The baked beans that came with the pulled pork sammie were delicious, what a proper baked bean should be. The only thing that made my experience something left to be desired was the bone shard of the breast plate and small bone I found in my pulled chicken sammie. I damn near swallowed it, but my tongue stopped it from going down my throat. The sauces that were recommended to us, for our meals were on the money. each of the ones we tried- the KC, Chicago, Original, and Sweet and Smokey were great. All had good flavor. The KC style sauce is more what I am used to living in Oklahoma, but it was all good. The sweet tea was the appropriate sweetness, not puke sweet, it is how a sweet tea should taste, no matter what state you are in. Overall, the experience was nice, but the cook's need to be more attentive in their food inspection, before it goes out to the customer on the floor. Thank You Austin for making our experience welcoming, and taking care of our table. I would recommend, if you stop in Mt. Vernon, IL, Bandanas BBQ is the way to go, and make sure you get Austin as your server, he knows his menu and is very helpful.

Business travel took us to Mount Vernon, IL... yes, thrilling I know. Decided on something different that the typical chain restaurants which is how we ended here. Service was awesome. Our server was very knowledgeable. I saw the smoked turkey on the menu and almost decided against it because seriously, who goes to a BBQ place and orders turkey?? Well, I'm so glad that I tried it. The turkey was FABULOUS... with and without sauce! When I'm in Mount Vernon again, I will definitely go back!

O M G. This meal was delicious! My intercomrade and I were weary travelers looking for a solid meal and we got it. I ordered the dinner combo platter with sausage links, pulled pork, baked beans, potato salad, and garlic bread. The portions were generous and the meal was well prepared! I didn't even use any sauce for the meats because they didn't need it! The presentation of the food was ordinary and plain, which is how bbq should be served. Our waitress, Amanda, was a delight, and the manager also came out to check on us. Great service to go along with great food at a reasonable price...what a trifecta!

We just moved here and gave this place a try today! We loved it! Awesome BBQ and sweet tea! I liked that the manager took the time to come by our table to see how the food and service was. We will be back for sure!

I enjoyed it! I ordered the pork and beef plate with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. It was delicious. My two favorite sauces are the Chicago sweet and the hot sauce. Also the menu gave the calories for each thing. I loved it. Cool, warm atmosphere.

This is a BBQ place(duh) but it's amazing:) atmosphere is great, staff is super friendly! We stopped here on way home from STL, perfect half way point for us and very easy right of highway! They have different types of BBQ for everyone to like and plenty for kids who may not like BBQ! The sweat tea is great! Yummy! Great all around!

GREAT spot near the highway. Food is great. Fast. Reasonably priced. Friendly service. Casual for sure. But BBQ is supposed to be casual! We would definitely stop here again if we pass by.

I have to agree with the other good reviews on this Bandana's--fast, friendly service and great-tasting barbecue. The Chicken Platter with cole slaw and sweet potato fries was delicious. A welcome change to some of the lackluster food I've been experiencing on this trip. Would definitely go back again.

We went on Sunday afternoon and it was packed. Our waitress was great, but running a little behind. Not a big deal though, she was polite and apologetic. Our food was perfect. We were super surprised at how good everything was! I'm stoked that a chain can keep up such good quality. It was great and we would go back again in a heart beat :)

Service was slow and very matter of fact style of attitude. Meat was kinda on the dry side with salty portions. No real difference I the sauces but mustard and no heat what so ever. Nice atmosphere and easy to get to though.
